Size Range and Fitting Process
Built on years of experience fitting in the apparel industry, we built our size range off of a simplified version of Alvanon’s North American standards. These size charts are created using regional body-scan data from 2021, reflecting the actual posture, proportions, size, and shape of today’s customer. This provides a relevant and accurate baseline for our inclusive fit.
Our size ranges are based on their block fit: B-cup and D-cup. Sizes 0-18 are drafted for a B-cup and sizes 16-34 are drafted for D-cup, both based on a height of 5’6”. Note that the cup size does not refer to bra sizing, this refers to the difference in inches between the chest and bust (A = 1", B = 2", C = 3", D = 4", etc.).
When patterns are tested for fit, we take into account our personal shape, but in the end the pattern is adjusted to best fit the body measurements from the chart (base sizes 10 and 22W). This way, our customers will have the most universal garment fit experience.
Choosing the right size:
The below information will help guide you to selecting your initial size, where you can then assess if you need to make further adjustments based on your desired fit or body shape. Since there are many factors like fabric weight, stretch, and sewing tolerance involved in the fitting process, we always recommend making a toile to ensure desired fit.
Wearing Ease:
Our patterns our designed with positive and/or negative wearing ease for comfort and style. It’s important to reference the finished measurements chart and compare against the body measurements chart. In some cases you may want to size up or down for desired final look, and/or compare finished measurements with a well-fitting garment you already own.
